Correctionism is a timeless, universal philosophy rooted in the African American Experience. This philosophy teaches many concepts and among the most important is the concept of Massive Human Error (MHE). In Correctionism, MHE is defined as—The cumulative effects of great mistakes and crimes committed by large numbers of people over long periods of time. MHE is important in human life because it makes us aware that there are not only consequences to all that we may think or do as humans but it also makes us aware of the vital importance of doing right instead of wrong. This is because it’s not uncommon for people to live their entire lives without the slightest idea of what they’re actually doing. In other words, there’s often a tremendous difference between what we may think we’re doing and what we’re actually doing in our cultures or societies. This is largely because we’re easily blinded by our most influential and cherished beliefs. In this respect, it’s the effects of what we’re doing that’s most important because we live in a world of action yet the vast majority of us rarely if ever are aware of the effects of our thought and behavior and this constitutes a major problem for all mankind.
Correctionism
Correctionism gets its name from the fact that whenever mankind’s errors become massive it must correct itself before it’s too late and we’re now living in such a time. This is why Correctionism emphasizes the importance of things like right and wrong as well as truth and falsehood. The foregoing structural elements of human life are not only vital to human well-being but they’re also intimately related to Massive Human Error (MHE); this means that MHE is all about how far removed from truth or reality we humans sometimes are or how badly we’re screwing up in earthly life. This is quite important because people often think that God is in control when in reality we humans actually make our own beds here on earth via our beliefs and conduct, so we must lie in the bed that we make for better or worse. Verily, how we think and behave truly shapes the world in which we live.
The Mistakes of Larger Entities
Moreover, most people are aware that individuals make mistakes but how many are aware that larger entities like ethnic groups, religions, political parties, corporations, governments and entire nations also make mistakes and that the mistakes of these larger entities are more likely to be massive. A brutal reality of man’s earthly existence is that we can be wrong as humans and not even be aware of it. Our lives are such deceptive affairs because we’re commonly born into this world in abject ignorance; so we must rely upon others to raise us properly by imparting the vital knowledge required to achieve the best of the human species.
The Struggle
Unfortunately, we humans are not only born in abject ignorance but we often live our entire lives on this earth in abject ignorance as well. This is usually the case, if someone doesn’t provide us with the proper knowledge needed to lift us out of such a wretched state. In Correctionism, we caution students to avoid the error of having a too high opinion of mankind, for there is nothing in our track record on earth to justify such a belief. Man is little more than a caged hamster treading a wheel on earth if he doesn’t have the knowledge needed to master the struggle against his own evil and ignorance. Therefore, our species has the dubious distinction of often being too evil or too ignorant for its own good. Regardless of all the wonderful things man knows or claims to know on earth, everything pales into insignificance if we fail to master the struggle against our own evil and ignorance as humans. To make matters even more complex, man must also know how to stay on the right track over the long haul or he will eventually lose his way, and be reduced to a willing or unwitting instrument of evil.
Human Life Acts as a Mirror
Correctionism is, therefore, truth centered rather than belief centered; so it teaches us to see the world and mankind in an entirely different way. In this light, Correctionism represents a paradigm shift because much that we’ve been taught as Black Americans is wrong just as much that we’ve been taught as Americans is also wrong. While many would disagree with the foregoing assessment, it can easily be proven by a mere cursory look at the condition of Black America and the U.S. today. Hence, it goes without saying that if what we’ve been doing as Black Americans or even as Americans was so great then neither the Black community nor this nation would be in the dire condition they’re in today. In other words, there is never any need for debate as to how we’re doing on earth because the proof is always in the pudding so to speak; all one has to do is take an honest look at the state of one’s personal life or the state of the world at large to know whether what you’ve been doing or what the vast majority of people have been doing is right or wrong. In Correctionism we learn that:
Human life acts as a mirror that ever reflects back to us the true nature of our most influential beliefs. If we see major problems in everyday life, for example, then we can be certain that there are major problems with our most influential beliefs.
When we deal with the concept of Massive Human Error (MHE), we come face to face with the brutal reality of man’s ignorance and evil, or criminality, which are also the leading causes of man’s suffering in all known periods of human history. MHE is therefore about how we humans often make a huge mess of things in our cultures or societies yet still call it civilization.
Massive Human Error
This brings us to the question of how can human life get into such a disastrous state as we find ourselves in today? The answer lies in how dominant human evil and ignorance are at any given time. In other words, man’s ignorance and evil, or criminality, can have a major, adverse effect on the human condition if left unchecked. Today, we’re on the receiving end of nearly 2000 years of large-scale human evil and ignorance; so major mistakes and crimes have been committed over this period that have literally converted the earth into a massive crime scene. Consequently, the last roughly 6000 years of human history can also be described as a chronicle of Massive Human Error (MHE) on earth.
Blinded by Beliefs
If we can accept that humans tend to live in their beliefs we must also accept that they’re easily blinded by them as well. This means that as humans we often suffer from the erroneous conviction that certain individuals, books or institutions are infallible; thus, in the minds of the multitude, these individuals, books or institutions can’t be wrong. This usually results in the vast majority being badly deceived and manipulated yet they’re rarely if ever aware of it.
Correcting Ourselves
The ability to realize when we’re wrong and more importantly to correct ourselves is an important principle in Correctionism; the ability to realize when we’re wrong and to correct ourselves before it’s too late, is made possible by our knowledge of and access to the Truth, which often spells the difference between success and suffering for mankind on earth. On the other hand, there are powerful special interests in this world that hate the Truth and are constantly at war with it. These same interests often resort to official lying, censorship and the persecution of dissent to conceal or suppress the Truth. For these and other reasons, the typical human, during the last roughly 6000 years up to today, often has, or has had, little or no idea what the Truth really is. Such a dire state of affairs can become rampant and longstanding which invariably leads to Massive Human Error (MHE) and if things remain uncorrected it can eventually lead to the utter ruin of human life.
High levels of evil and ignorance are sure signs of major societal dysfunction and an excellent indicator of the dismal state of the human condition in any historical period. In Correctionism, we don’t just concern ourselves with the mistakes and crimes of the common people but we also examine the often enormous mistakes and crimes of human leaders and all human institutions.
Place the Truth Above
When we think in terms of man’s mistakes and crimes becoming massive and leading to MHE, this sheds much needed light on the importance of truth in our lives; for it is certainly vital to the proper conduct of human life and the source of all that’s good. In reality, the Truth is so important that mankind benefits or suffers on earth based upon its proximity to or distance from the Truth. For thousands of years and counting, the typical human has been and remains more inclined to place his religious or even his scientific beliefs over the Truth and this has been the source of untold misery for our species. Therefore, Correctionism teaches that all human institutions are subject to corruption and moral decay over time, including religion and science, so nothing is higher than the Truth. As we can see, Correctionism places the Truth above all; therefore, an important off-shoot of Correctionism is Ajiseism (Ah-jee-shay-ism) or the religion of the Culture of Redemption and Renewal (CORAR)—A more effective Black American culture for the 21st century and beyond; in Ajiseism, straying from the Truth and straying from God are one and the same.
The Great Decline of Civilization
Nevertheless, men routinely stray far away from the Truth and don’t even realize it. The human mind is not only capable of making the unreal appear real, it’s also capable of mistaking evil for good and good for evil. Things are so bad today that we now live in an era of universal deceit and utter contempt for the Truth. It’s certainly safe to say that the discrepancy between what people think they’re doing today in their cultures or societies and what they’re actually doing is now so enormous that Massive Human Error (MHE) is now the norm worldwide rather than the exception. This is largely the result of the last roughly 2000 years of human history and counting; a period that can rightly be described as the culmination of the Great Decline of Civilization, which in Correctionism is defined as—A downward spiral for mankind covering roughly the last 6000 years of human history up to and including the present. Although, it is customary in mainstream history to associate the foregoing period with the initial rise of civilization, Correctionism teaches that what the world has been experiencing over this period is actually the Great Decline of Civilization instead. This also indicates that in Correctionism the initial starting point for the rise of human civilization is pushed back far beyond that currently recognized by mainstream history because what’s usually considered advanced civilization undoubtedly existed in remote ages prior to the current era. In this light, the last 2000 years can certainly be seen as the culmination of the Great Decline of Civilization as well as the cause of the extraordinary prevalence of Massive Human Error (MHE) that currently plagues the earth.
The Era of Universal Deceit
Many people in this current era, of universal deceit and utter contempt for the Truth, are actually behaving as if the idea of boundaries no longer applies to the human species. It should also not be surprising that these same people are now madly rushing into a “brave new world” where man does as he pleases without any boundaries whatsoever. Today for example, men are boldly redefining what it means to be a man and a woman so people are clearly forgetting what a true man and a true woman are. Nevertheless, Correctionism teaches that human life at its best is impossible without the Truth because in the absence of truth nothing in human life works properly, and this includes man’s societies, our institutions and even people themselves. Unfortunately, what’s natural and therefore best for mankind and other species is under relentless assault in today’s era of universal deceit and utter contempt for the Truth.
Transgressing Man’s Boundaries
The concept of Massive Human Error (MHE) is also important because it ever reminds us of the grave danger of man overstepping his bounds on earth and getting himself into all sorts of serious trouble; when we take the time to honestly consider the foregoing issue, few institutions have contributed to this problem more than politics, religion and science. These institutions have also played major roles in setting and transgressing man’s boundaries just as they’ve played major roles in the rise of MHE among men. If we take religion and science as examples of this phenomenon, they’re best seen as two sides of the same coin. Both of these respected institutions purport to explain the world as it really is, from a spiritual and a material viewpoint respectively, yet these two institutions are often mere tools in the hands of powerful special interests in their relentless war against the Truth.
If we examine the last two thousand years of mainstream human history without bias of any kind, it will be seen that religion has clearly made itself more important than God, while science has clearly made itself more important than man. The problem of MHE as a brutal reality and major scourge of our earthly lives is better understood if we can accept that both religion and science have not only spread erroneous beliefs but they’ve greatly contributed to the rise of dark ages on earth. As a consequence of the last roughly 2000 years up to and including the present, evil and ignorance currently rule the earth and this could only occur when too many men are on the wrong track and too few are on the right track.
In organized religion as it has developed over these last 2000 years in particular, man is taught to blindly adhere to certain orthodox dogma and similar rigid restrictions apply in mainstream science today. Since human beliefs don’t even have to be true to be considered orthodox or even sacrosanct, erroneous, popular beliefs often become the basis of man’s earthly existence. When this situation remains unchecked and goes on long enough, it often leads to Massive Human Error (MHE)—The cumulative effects of great mistakes and crimes committed by large numbers of people over long periods of time.
War Against the Truth
Though most people would agree that we humans make mistakes, few realize just how massive these mistakes can become or the often staggering extent these mistakes corrupt and damage our earthly lives. In reality, man can base his life on a pack of lies that he sincerely believes is true just as man can base his life on that which is actually true. Things are made even more complex for our species by the fact that conventional human history has been marred by a vicious war against the Truth and those who support it, waged by powerful special interests. These same criminal interests have generally dominated both religion and science for centuries and continue to do so today. In reality, few people are even aware of this because the Truth is often the last thing that many people want to hear.
A Digital Dark Age
If we honestly examine the current state of the known world as well as the human condition today, there is really no other conclusion to be reached. As a species, mankind now stands at the brink of a digital dark age and we got to this perilous point in human history because we’ve largely failed to learn the lessons of the last dark age. Verily, just as the last dark age was driven by hegemonic religion, the next dark age is being driven by hegemonic science. Ironically, both religion and science have played major roles in bringing about the looming, digital dark age, for all men, both religious and secular have committed egregious mistakes and crimes along the way. Among the most common of these mistakes is the practice of blind unquestioning faith in any belief of man. In this epic tragedy there’s plenty of blame to go around.
Those at fault, includes those who occupy the higher rungs of the social ladder as well as those in the middle and on the very bottom. Another brutal reality that can be stated about this period, especially since the year 2020, is that this brief period proves beyond all reasonable doubt that there is indeed no effective limit to the evil and ignorance of the human species, so Massive Human Error (MHE) is now the norm world-wide rather than the exception. Never, has mankind been as wrong or as misguided as it is today.
