One of the dominant beliefs of the last two thousand years of human history is that man is the image of God as well as the apple of God’s eye. Such beliefs are widespread even today, yet they have done much to make men oblivious to their vital responsibilities and most egregious flaws. This has contributed to the discrediting of established religious beliefs and the ushering in of the Godless religion of modern science and technology. Such contradictions are common in human life and especially common today. On the other hand, in Correctionism, we learn that one of man’s biggest problems on earth is that he often lacks a true understanding of his own nature. This has led to massive human mistakes and crimes over the last several thousand years and counting. In fact, things have become so bad for mankind that current social trends threaten to completely ruin human life on earth yet few men living today even realize this.
When it comes to man’s true nature, Correctionism teaches that man is first and foremost a binary creature who is both human and inhuman. Therefore, when it comes to man actually being the image of God, there’s no valid evidence in recorded history of any special status of mankind in relation to divinity. Today, it’s common for people to ask why God allowed certain bad things to happen to them. This indicates a dangerous delusion among men that causes them to become grossly ignorant and incompetent at being human. No species needs to get their act together on earth more than mortal man. While such beliefs as man being the image of God are quite popular, human history bears stark witness that man’s fortunes on earth are actually tied to how wise or foolish men are at any given time and not to any special favor with God. Nevertheless, men continue to be sent off by erroneous yet popular religious beliefs that teach that man is the image of God and specially favored by God. Correctionism teaches that though we may reach out to God for assistance in times of great difficulty, there are indeed things in this world that mankind must do for itself no matter how difficult or badly needed they may be. For example, defending our cultures or societies from being taken over by evil and ignorance is certainly one of these things.
Not only is man rather than God most responsible for what occurs in human life but we humans also make our own beds here on earth via our beliefs and conduct so we must lie in the bed that we make for better or worse. To those who actually believe that man is the image of God, it’s quite helpful to remind ourselves of how difficult it is for man to even be a decent human being. The ancient belief of man being the image of God wasn’t a problem in the past but such a belief is a serious impediment today when mankind is faring so badly in its struggle against its own evil and ignorance as a species.
Man would profit far more at this critical time in human history from revising his view of himself more towards reality rather than the religious mythology of ancient times.
The problem with mankind is that we prefer to see ourselves in a glorious light. Though this isn’t a problem in itself, seeing ourselves as the image of God tends to instill conceit and denial which prevents us from seeing ourselves as we truly are at a time when our species has never been more wrong or misguided. Hence, the typical human living today sees himself as the image of God so there’s little incentive to look deeper at the serious shortcomings of the human species. These shortcomings currently threaten the very survival of mankind. In the interest of seeing ourselves as we really are as humans at this critical point in human history, the typical addict offers a more accurate image of mortal man in addition to offering a better idea of what’s wrong with our species. Given the dire challenges that humanity is currently facing in this particular day and age, the entire idea of man being the image of God, now appears to be a cruel prank played at man’s expense by the devil himself.
In any case, addicts are real humans who, for various reasons, can’t get enough of certain things they enjoy such as drugs and or alcohol which they use to get “high.” This is a feeling of euphoria or even stupor that allows the addict to attain an altered conscious state; this helps them to escape their everyday reality for pleasure or to temporarily forget the difficulties that confront them. The key concept here is that we humans often seek to escape or distort reality and not necessarily in the context of addiction but in everyday life, which has also been the source of untold misery for our species. Like addicts, we humans often don’t take the Truth seriously which is also why we’re so comfortable living in mythology for thousands of years rather than in reality. Moreover, man’s addictive behavior isn’t limited to drugs and alcohol but it can also extend to things like religion, science, technology, food, sex etc.
This is where things really get dangerous for mankind because we can be dead wrong in our beliefs and behavior but like the addict, we can be so oblivious that we won’t even be aware of it. Where the typical addict suffers greatly by completely subjugating himself to his drug of choice, mankind suffers greatly on earth by completely subjugating itself to its religious or secular beliefs. Moreover, just as the addict doubles down in his addiction rather than break out of it, we humans also find it very difficult to admit when we’re wrong or when we’ve been deceived. Therefore, addicts readily continue in their addiction regardless of the costs, just as the typical human continues to bury their heads in the sand, in their error or deception regardless of the costs.
Man was put here on earth to be human rather than inhuman. He was also put here on earth to seek and respect the Truth rather than blindly adhere to his religious and secular beliefs. Mankind has long ago forgotten the foregoing truths; so people must return to being human rather than continue to fall for the devil’s ever evolving trickery, which today includes transhumanism, or the idea that man can actually be more than human by subjugating himself to technology. This is the ultimate deception because as a binary creature, man can only be human or inhuman so there is in reality no such thing as a transhuman because a human subjugated to technology is actually less than human, which is clearly a case of the creator being ruled by his creation. Furthermore, advanced technology is currently dominated by AI or artificial intelligence. However, AI isn’t really intelligent but is merely programmed to mimic human intelligence or to do the bidding of its controllers. In this light, AI, even in so-called autonomous, humanoid form, is merely another tool of man like a hammer or even a firearm. In other words, AI can never surpass mankind just as mankind can never surpass being the natural adult males and females God made us to be. And to those who contend that there’s no objective evidence for the existence of God, the reality is actually quite different.
Just as the existence of AI and other human artifacts proves the existence of man, the existence of man and the world at large, proves the existence of God. However, when most people speak of God they’re usually referring to a particular prophet’s or scripture’s idea of God as opposed to God as it truly exists, independent of man, without any human prejudices or distortions. For thousands of years up to the present-day men have been taught to see themselves as the image of God, yet this has resulted in mankind making a huge mess of things here on earth. Only by learning to see our species as we really are, will we humans ever redeem ourselves from several thousand years of being either too evil or too ignorant for our own good.
